Sunoco Settles With EPA Over Pa. Hazardous Waste Claims

Law360, New York (October 25, 2012, 8:01 PM EDT) -- Sunoco Inc. has agreed to pay $117,000 to resolve the U.S Environmental Protection Agency’s claims it violated hazardous waste regulations at one of its former chemical production facilities in Pennsylvania, the EPA announced Thursday.

The payment of the civil penalty resolves claims that Sunoco violated the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act at its former Frankford chemical plant in Philadelphia by keeping phenol residue sludge on-site without the necessary RCRA waste permit, storing a leaking spent lead-acid battery and failing to keep used lamps in a closed...
