NRC Steps Up Oversight Of Nuke Plants During Hurricane

Law360, New York (October 29, 2012, 2:39 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ramped up oversight at several nuclear power plants on the East Coast believed to be more at risk than others as Hurricane Sandy made landfall Monday.

The NRC said it had sent additional inspectors to at least nine power plants from Maryland to Connecticut and that others were on standby if needed. That’s on top of the two resident NRC inspectors permanently stationed at the plants.
