Owens-Illinois Launches Internal Foreign Bribery Probe

Law360, New York (October 29, 2012, 5:37 PM EDT) -- Glass maker Owens-Illinois Inc. has begun an internal investigation into possible foreign bribery, it said Thursday.

The Perrysburg, Ohio-based company said its overseas operations may have violated several parts of the federal Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which stops U.S. companies from bribing overseas officials to obtain unfair advantages. Owens disclosed the investigation in a routine filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
