CMS Releases 2014 Reporting Specs For E-Records

Law360, New York (October 30, 2012, 3:23 PM EDT) -- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Friday released specifications for electronically reporting clinical quality measures related to electronic health records, which some providers must do starting in 2014.

Hospitals and doctors past their first year of meeting “meaningful use” standards for e-records must begin submitting their clinical quality data electronically in 2014, CMS said.

CMS determines whether providers are meeting meaningful use — and, therefore, whether they receive bonuses under the e-records incentive program — based on the reported clinical quality measures, or CQMs....
