Obama Has Authority To Halt Chinese Co. Wind Farm Buy: DOJ

Law360, New York (October 30, 2012, 12:10 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama didn’t overstep his authority when for national security reasons he barred Ralls Corp., a Delaware company owned by two Chinese manufacturers, from completing its purchase of four Oregon wind farm projects, the U.S. Department of Justice told a Washington federal judge Monday.

The DOJ urged U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson to dismiss the suit brought by Ralls, which claims Obama’s Sept. 28 executive order preventing the company from buying the projects — all of which are located near a U.S. Navy weapons...
