Developer Scales Back Contested Maine Wind Farm Plan

Law360, New York (October 31, 2012, 10:02 PM EDT) -- Maine's largest wind-energy developer is backing new, scaled-back plans for a wind farm on Bowers Mountain in remote eastern Maine after state regulators rejected an earlier plan because the farm's 27 turbines would be visible from nine wilderness sites, including lakes popular with boaters and swimmers.

Champlain Wind LLC, a project company of First Wind, announced revised plans for a $100 million project Wednesday, in which it would build a 16-turbine, 48-megawatt wind farm straddling Penobscot and Washington Counties, according to a statement from First Wind....
