GCs Employ Price Negotiation To Cut Costs, Survey Says

Law360, New York (November 5, 2012, 6:07 PM EST) -- A large majority of legal departments trimmed costs in 2012 by negotiating price reductions with outside counsel, while many also shifted work either in-house or to lower-priced law firms, according to a new survey released Monday by legal consulting firm Altman Weil Inc.

In the 13th annual Chief Legal Officer Survey, Altman Weil asked general counsels what they did in 2012 to control costs, which the corporate legal departments had reported was their top management priority in the 2011 survey.
