Total Expands In Kazakhstan With Onshore Stake Buys

Law360, New York (November 8, 2012, 3:38 PM EST) -- Total SA, long a presence in the Caspian Sea, has picked up controlling interests in two onshore blocks located in southwestern Kazakhstan, the French oil and gas major announced Thursday.

Total now owns the operating rights and a 75 percent equity stake in each of the two exploration blocks, simply identified as the North and South blocks, which were previously operated by Kazakh company Nurmunai Petrogas LLP, according to a statement from the French buyer.
