TIG Settles With Regence In $19M RICO Coverage Suit
Law360, New York (November 8, 2012, 7:27 PM EST) -- The Regence Group struck a deal with TIG Specialty Insurance Co. Friday to end a coverage dispute in Oregon over a roughly $19 million settlement of a civil Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act suit against the health insurer.
The Regence Group, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oregon and other affiliates brought the class action in 2007 to force TIG to cover their underlying settlement with health care providers claiming they violated RICO by conspiring with health maintenance organizations to avoid, lower or delay payments.
