Duke, FPL Could Get $293M From Customers For New Nukes

Law360, New York (November 8, 2012, 7:52 PM EST) -- The Florida Public Service Commission's staff recommended Wednesday that Florida Power & Light Co. and Duke Energy Corp. be allowed to recover a combined $293 million from ratepayers to finance the construction of new nuclear reactors.

In a 168-page memorandum, the staff said the PSC should authorize FPL to recover $151 million for two new reactors at a Miami-Dade County plant and authorize Duke to recover $142 million to build a two-reactor plant in Levy County.
