Coalition Floats Ways To Save Medicare Payments From Cuts

Law360, New York (November 9, 2012, 6:33 PM EST) -- Health care companies, trade groups and patient organizations together urged Congress on Thursday to adopt a litany of policy recommendations they said would save the federal government $500 billion without major cuts to Medicare physician payments.

The National Coalition on Health Care — whose members include doctors' groups, patient advocates, unions and individual companies like Teva Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and CVS Caremark Corp. — offered its policy suggestions as Congress began negotiating a deal to reduce the deficit and avert the so-called fiscal cliff.
