Specialists Take Issue With Medicare Payment Modifier

Law360, New York (November 9, 2012, 4:51 PM EST) -- The Alliance of Specialty Medicine hit out Friday at an Affordable Care Act-mandated provision in next year's Medicare fee schedule that would modify payments to doctors based on their performance, saying it would divert their attention from treating patients.

According to the alliance of 13 specialty doctor societies across the U.S., the chosen implementation of the value-based payment modifier raised several areas of concern for specialists.
