Chevron Calls On Argentine Judge To Undo Asset Freeze

Law360, New York (November 9, 2012, 9:56 PM EST) -- Chevron Corp. units on Friday asked an Argentine court to lift an embargo order on the oil and gas giant’s assets in that country, two days after a Buenos Aires judge effectively froze about $2 billion worth of Chevron subsidiaries’ operations there.

The freeze order improperly disrupts several energy projects in Argentina in the name of a $19 billion Ecuadorean judgment against Chevron for polluting the Amazon rain forest, two Chevron subsidiaries argued in a motion to revoke filed in the Commercial Court of Justice....
