Carlyle, Others Contribute $210M To African Commodities Co.

Law360, New York (November 14, 2012, 2:19 PM EST) -- A consortium of three private equity funds has funneled $210 million into the Export Trading Group, in a deal that marks the first transaction for the Carlyle Group LP's new Sub-Saharan Africa Fund, the companies announced Wednesday.

The injection is also the first for South African holding company Remgro Ltd.'s The Pembani Remgro Infrastructure Fund, but is a buildup for one of Standard Chartered PLC's private equity groups, which had previously invested $74 million in the agricultural supply chain manager.
