Medtronic Targeted Over Surgery Imaging Patent

Law360, New York (November 14, 2012, 12:52 PM EST) -- Three medical companies filed suit against Medtronic Inc. in Colorado federal court on Tuesday, alleging the device maker's surgery planning technologies infringe a patent licensed to the trio.

NeuroGrafix, Neurography Institute Medical Associates Inc. and Image-Based Surgicenter Corp. claim Medtronic and its subsidiary Medtronic Navigation Inc. are infringing a neural tissue imaging patent through the production and sales of the defendants' StealthViz imaging technology and related products. The patent-in-suit is U.S. Patent Number 5,560,360, called “Image neurography and diffusion anisotropy imaging.”
