DOJ, EPA Fine Vehicle Importers Over Clean Air Act Violations

Law360, New York (November 14, 2012, 6:27 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday announced that two vehicle and engine importers who allegedly imported more than 17,000 motorcycles, vehicles and engines from China in violation of Clean Air Act requirements will pay thousands in penalties.

Two senior executives from California-based importers Yuan Cheng International Group Inc. and NST Inc. must pay a combined $50,000 civil penalty, notify the EPA if they form any U.S.-based business that fall under the Clean Air Act and create an EPA-approved compliance plan...
