Ford Sues Insurer Over $20M in Product Liability Claims

Law360, New York (November 19, 2012, 8:43 PM EST) -- Ford Motor Co. on Friday launched a Virginia district court suit against a Berkshire-Hathaway Inc. insurance unit it claims engaged in a conspiracy to stall more than $20 million in payments it owes the automaker under product liability coverage policies.

Ford claims that Berkshire-owned National Indemnity Co. choked off millions in payments it owes the automaker under policies it acquired from financially troubled German insurer HDI-Gerling and, moreover, conspired with Gerling to interfere with Ford’s ability to recoup its losses under those policies.
