Chertoff Tapped For NYSE Probe Into SEC Tech Security Lapse

Law360, New York (November 20, 2012, 9:29 PM EST) -- NYSE EuroNext has hired Michael Chertoff, the former U.S. secretary of homeland security and current senior of counsel at Covington & Burling LLP, to investigate potential security breaches following a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission report finding that SEC employees failed to properly protect technology used to audit exchanges, NYSE confirmed on Tuesday.

The hire comes after an Aug. 30 report from the SEC’s Office of the Inspector General finding that its staffers in the agency's division of trading and markets office of market continuity inspection...
