Highmark, West Penn To Resume Merger Talks

Law360, Philadelphia (November 20, 2012, 4:28 PM EST) -- In a message to employees Friday, West Penn Allegheny Health System Board Chairman Jack Isherwood said that talks regarding a troubled $475 million merger with insurer Highmark Inc. would begin again after Thanksgiving and that both sides were committed to good faith negotiations.

Isherwood’s message came a week after an Allegheny County judge granted Highmark an injunction that prevented West Penn from backing out of an affiliation agreement the two sides signed in October 2011.
