ESA Deals Thwart Conservation Efforts, DC Circ. Hears

Law360, Washington (November 20, 2012, 2:13 PM EST) -- Safari Club International told the D.C. Circuit on Tuesday that a pair of U.S. settlements over Endangered Species Act determination deadlines could prevent states' and private groups' conservation efforts by delaying federal protection decisions for hundreds of species.

While the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reached the multidistrict litigation settlements with the Center for Biological Diversity and WildEarth Guardians last year, Safari Club claimed the lower court should have allowed it to intervene in the case, as the broad agreements could endanger regulated state hunting programs...
