Ob-Gyns Back Over-The-Counter Birth Control Sales

Law360, New York (November 21, 2012, 2:39 PM EST) -- A leading group of ob-gyns on Tuesday recommended allowing over-the-counter sales of oral contraceptives, adding to a growing chorus and likely opening up a debate over insurance coverage and patient safety.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists cited stubbornly high rates of unintended pregnancy as its motivation and suggested that making birth control pills available without a prescription would go a long way toward solving the problem.
