Meat Co. Responsible For E. Coli Outbreak, 1st Circ. Says

Law360, New York (November 26, 2012, 1:12 PM EST) -- The First Circuit on Wednesday denied a bid by Greater Omaha Packing Co. Inc. to reverse a unanimous jury verdict finding it responsible for a 2009 E. coli outbreak, saying there was ample evidence it shipped tainted meat that sickened dozens.

The appeals court upheld a district court win by meat processing company Fairbank Reconstruction Corp., which does business as Fairbank Farms and was sued alongside GOPAC by Margaret Long and Alice Smith, two of the 32 consumers sickened by the allegedly contaminated meat.
