Top Dems Seek Answers On Black Elk Oil Rig Explosion

Law360, New York (November 26, 2012, 8:02 PM EST) -- Top House Democrats called on Black Elk Energy LLC on Monday to explain the circumstances surrounding a deadly explosion and fire that ravaged one of its oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico last week, suggesting the input would inform offshore drilling safety legislation.

The Democratic leadership of the House Energy and Commerce and Natural Resources committees sent a letter to Black Elk CEO John Hoffman demanding a briefing on the disaster, which left two workers dead and another missing as of Monday evening.
