Law360, New York (November 27, 2012, 8:19 PM EST) -- The European Commission on Tuesday unveiled a plan to strengthen existing legislation and enhance regulators' data-sharing and cross-border enforcement capabilities in order to crack down on deceptive marketing scams that target businesses.

As part of a new strategy to better protect businesses that are exposed to marketing scams that range from providing false or misleading information about a service to sending offers disguised as invoices asking for updates in business directories, the commission plans to take immediate steps to improve coordination between member states by enabling...
