11th Circ. Won't Rehear Ala. Immigration Law Case

Law360, New York (November 27, 2012, 9:04 PM EST) -- The Eleventh Circuit refused Tuesday to reconsider its ruling that a key provision of Alabama's controversial HB 56 immigration law violates the equal protection clause.

Just over three months after blocking the implementation of the law's Section 28 — a rule requiring public schools to determine and record the immigration status of students — the appeals court rejected Alabama's request for an en banc rehearing of their decision.

The court didn't offer an explanation for denying the petition.
