Italian TV Magnate's €200M Suit Against Philips Trimmed

Law360, Wilmington (November 29, 2012, 12:22 PM EST) -- A Delaware judge on Wednesday pared down an Italian businessman’s lawsuit accusing Dutch electronics giant Koninklijke Philips Electronics NV of duping him into pouring €200 million into a television joint venture that went belly-up in 2006.

In a 65-page opinion, Vice Chancellor Donald F. Parsons granted Philips summary judgment on plaintiff Carlo Vichi’s claim for unjust enrichment and a breach of contract claim under Italian law, along with a breach of fiduciary duty claim under Dutch law.
