$2B Wind Farm Proposed For Tasmanian Island

Law360, New York (November 30, 2012, 5:17 PM EST) -- Australian clean energy firm Hydro Tasmania on Wednesday unveiled plans to build a 200-turbine wind farm on an island off Victoria that, at an estimated cost of $2 billion, would make it one of the most expensive wind power projects on the planet.

Dubbed TasWind, the project would include laying a high-voltage cable under the Bass Strait to connect the farm, planned for Tasmania's King Island, to the Victorian electricity grid on the mainland, according to a statement from Hydro Tasmania.
