Canada Nixes Cenovus Plan For New Gas Wells In Alberta

Law360, New York (November 30, 2012, 6:38 PM EST) -- The Canadian government on Friday shot down a proposal from Calgary-based Cenovus Energy Inc. to drill nearly 1,300 new shallow gas wells in a protected wildlife area in southern Alberta, saying the project would have significant adverse environmental effects on endangered plant and animal species.
