Sen. Skeptical Of Hyundai, Kia Fuel Payback Program

Law360, New York (November 30, 2012, 5:32 PM EST) -- The head of a key U.S. Senate committee on Thursday questioned the effectiveness of the program established in November by Hyundai Motor America and Kia Motors America to reimburse consumers who bought cars with overstated fuel economy estimates.

Hyundai and its affiliate Kia said Nov. 1 they would lower the fuel economy estimates currently on the stickers for most of their 2012 and 2013 models after data submitted by the automakers failed to sync up with testing performed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
