Nokia Siemens Sells Optical Fiber Unit To PE Firm

Law360, New York (December 3, 2012, 12:17 PM EST) -- Nokia Siemens Networks BV will hand off its optical fiber business to California private equity firm Marlin Equity Partners, the struggling mobile broadband company said Monday, furthering an effort to trim costs through divestitures.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Nokia Siemens said it expected to finalize the sale early next year pending approval from antitrust regulators. The unit's roughly 1,900 employees in Germany, Portugal and China will shift to a new Munich-headquartered company established by Marlin Equity.
