OpenTV Agrees To Settle Interactive TV Patent Suit

Law360, New York (November 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- OpenTV Inc. and Liberate Technologies Inc. have reached a settlement in a lawsuit over patents related to interactive television. Liberate Technologies admitted that OpenTV's patents are valid, enforceable and infringed and agreed to drop all of its counterclaims against OpenTV.

U.S. District Judge Judge Jeffrey S. White signed off on a consent judgment Wednesday. The judgment enjoined Liberate Technologies from infringing U.S. Patent Numbers 5,563,648 and 5,819,034 and directed each party to take care of its own attorneys' fees and costs stemming from the case, which...
