Nuclear Safety Group Wants Vermont Yankee Shut Down

Law360, New York (December 5, 2012, 12:47 PM EST) -- A nuclear power safety advocacy group on Tuesday petitioned the Vermont Supreme Court for an order to close the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant, saying operator Entergy Corp. was operating it without a necessary state permit.

According to the New England Coalition, Entergy had disobeyed an order by Vermont’s public service board — the entity overseeing utilities in the state — by continuing to operate the plant without a current certificate of public good.
