Don't Push Medicare, Medicaid Off Fiscal Cliff, AHA Says

Law360, New York (December 5, 2012, 4:11 PM EST) -- As President Barack Obama and congressional Republicans continue to spar over the so-called fiscal cliff, the American Hospital Association on Monday urged lawmakers to spare Medicare and Medicaid, saying potential cuts to the programs would devastate both hospitals and physicians.

The fiscal cliff is a combination of several factors, including the scheduled expiration of the Bush tax cuts and the start of sequestration, which will cut $1.2 trillion from federal spending beginning Jan. 2. That includes a 2 percent cut in Medicare payments to providers....
