FDA Wrongfully Withheld Animal Antibiotic Data, Suit Says

Law360, New York (December 5, 2012, 4:34 PM EST) -- The Government Accountability Project hit the U.S. Food and Drug Administration with a Freedom of Information Act suit in Washington federal court Wednesday, saying the agency had wrongly withheld data on antibiotics used on food animals.

According to the GAP's suit, the organization had made a FOIA request for certain information from the FDA on the annual amount of antibiotics sold for use on food animals, but its request had been incorrectly rejected by the agency under a trade secrets and commercial information exemption.
