EU Antitrust Chief Uncertain About UPS/TNT Concessions

Law360, New York (December 6, 2012, 2:21 PM EST) -- The European Commission's antitrust chief expressed doubt Thursday that American package giant United Parcel Service Inc. could find a way to make its proposed $6.8 billion acquisition of Dutch delivery company TNT Express NV acceptable to regulators.

The deal, first announced in March, prompted the launch of a full antitrust probe in July after initial investigations showed a possible drop-off in competition. The merger would reduce the market for small-parcel delivery services to just three companies, regulators say.
