Drug Labs Alkem, Sidmak Sued Over Acne Drug ANDA

Law360, New York (December 6, 2012, 5:03 PM EST) -- Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp. fired the latest salvos Wednesday in an ongoing effort to protect its patents for the oral acne drug Solodyn, launching twin lawsuits targeting generic drug manufacturers that are seeking to produce generic versions of the drug.

In its two Delaware federal court suits, Medicis accused India-based generic drug manufacturers Sidmak Laboratories (India) Pvt. Ltd. and Alkem Laboratories Ltd. of flouting three patents — U.S. Patent Numbers 5,908,838; 7,790,705; and 8,268,804 — that cover the skin care drug. American subsidiaries The Pharma Network LLC...
