Finisair, Agilent Clash Over Fiber-Optic Technology Patent

Law360, New York (September 7, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Finisar Corporation, a fiber optics technology company, has sued rival Agilent Technologies Inc. after being granted a new patent for its transceiver diagnostics equipment.

The California-based company is seeking $1.1 billion in damages, with a determination of willful infringement trebling that amount. In addition, it is seeking payment of attorney’s fees and injunctive relief to prevent additional sales of Agilent’s transceiver products.
