CFPB, DOJ To Join Forces On Fair Lending Enforcement

Law360, New York (December 10, 2012, 3:43 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said Thursday that they will strengthen coordination on fair lending enforcement and avoid duplicative law enforcement efforts in order to fight lending discrimination.

The agencies said they will share information in matters that the CFPB refers to the Justice Department and in joint investigations under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act to coordinate fair lending enforcement. The agreement establishes strict confidentiality protections for this shared information.
