US Rips Russia's New Meat Exports Restrictions

Law360, New York (December 10, 2012, 1:24 PM EST) -- U.S. trade and agriculture officials on Saturday urged Russia to suspend new rules barring imports of pork and beef containing the additive ractopamine, saying the restrictions violate World Trade Organization rules.

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk and U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack issued a joint statement condemning the new Russian rules, which were announced Friday by the country's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, or Rosselkhoznadzor.
