Orion Targets Sun Over Generic Parkinson’s Drug

Law360 (November 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Finnish pharmaceutical company Orion Corp. said Tuesday it has shot off a patent infringement suit against Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd. for taking steps to sell a generic treatment for Parkinson’s disease that allegedly violates Orion’s Stalevo tablets.

Orion said it sued Sun and its Michigan-based subsidiary in the United States to enforce its formulation patent, U.S. Patent Number 6,500,867, an enhanced levodopa treatment developed by Orion and marketed in the United States by exclusive licensee Novartis.
