States Won't Get Full Pay For Partial Medicaid Expansion: CMS

Law360, New York (December 10, 2012, 5:46 PM EST) -- States cannot partially expand Medicaid and still expect the federal government to fully pay for the expansion, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said Monday, as it answered dozens of outstanding questions about the Affordable Care Act and its federally facilitated exchanges.

For months, governors and other stakeholders have been asking the administration for details about the Medicaid expansion and the ACA's insurance exchanges, especially the exchanges CMS will put in place if a state opts not to run its own exchange.
