Wi-LAN Says RIM's Bluetooth Products Infringe Patent

Law360, New York (December 11, 2012, 6:42 PM EST) -- Technology licensing company Wi-LAN USA Inc. sued Research In Motion Ltd. on Monday in Florida federal court, alleging the BlackBerry maker's Bluetooth products infringe one of it patents.

The suit, filed in the Southern District of Florida, centers on U.S. Patent No. 6,260,168, which the complaint says was issued in 2001 and is owned by Wi-LAN. The patent covers an invention that helps provide more efficient voice data transmission, according to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office information.
