Companies Pick Up Tab For Lawyer Pay Hikes: Survey

Law360, New York (November 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The country's largest companies are spending more than ever on legal fees, but the increase in legal expenditures is due just as much to the jump in attorney salaries as it is to a spike in litigation, according to a new survey.

For companies with annual revenues of $5 billion more, total law department expenses have jumped from .19% of total revenue in fiscal year 2005 to .27% of annual revenue in 2006, the Altman Weil Law Department Metrics Benchmarking Survey revealed.
