Sens. Urge FERC To Bolster Oversight Of RTO Spending

Law360, New York (December 14, 2012, 8:16 PM EST) -- Sens. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., pressed the Federal Regulatory Energy Commission to crack down on spending by the country's regional transmission organizations, saying their budgets have ballooned with little input from consumers.

The lawmakers sent a letter to FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff urging him to beef up the commission's oversight of RTOs by holding them to performance assessments, public reviews and other forms of scrutiny.
