U.S. Industry Groups Disappointed With FTAA Draft

Law360, New York (November 20, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- U.S. industry groups reacted with disappointment to the compromise draft agreement on a Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), which they said fell short on efforts to create hemisphere-wide intellectual property protection.

Trade ministers from 34 countries agreed to a watered-down draft Thursday, a day ahead of schedule, after a week of negotiations in Miami, Florida.
