CFPB To Focus On Student Loan Marketing Materials

Law360, New York (December 17, 2012, 4:42 PM EST) -- The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on Monday said that its examinations of private student lenders will focus on whether their marketing materials are accurate and do not target minority and other borrowers with unfair conditions.

In its examination guidelines for private student lenders, the CFPB added that it will look at mail and text messages, telephone solicitation scripts, and agreements and disclosures to make sure that they are "not deceptive, misleading or discriminatory."
