Energy Trade Groups Target FERC Enforcement Rules

Law360 (November 15, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- As the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission gears up for a conference on its newfound enforcement powers, a coalition of energy trade associations has asked the agency to issue fewer fines, and instead put more emphasis on facilitating compliance.

The coalition, comprising seven associations that represent the electric and gas industries, said in a report published Wednesday that FERC's enforcement rules lack clarity, and should therefore be simplified to reduce regulatory uncertainty.
