Sierra Club Loses Bid To Block $3B Miss. Coal Plant

Law360, Los Angeles (December 18, 2012, 6:56 PM EST) -- A Mississippi judge Monday rejected the Sierra Club’s challenge to the licensing of Mississippi Power Co. Inc.'s $2.88 billion coal-fired power plant in Kemper County as part of a lawsuit the environmental group vowed to again take to the state’s highest court.

Harrison County Chancellor Jim Persons ruled the Mississippi Public Service Commission’s 133-page final order as part of an April public meeting on the plant’s construction was “in more than sufficient detail” to allow the project to go forward. The Sierra Club said Tuesday it...
