DRAM Settlements Rejected Due To Conflicts

Law360 (November 15, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- In an upset for the indirect purchaser plaintiffs in the DRAM multidistrict litigation, a federal judge has denied preliminary approval of their settlements with memory chip makers Samsung Group and Winbond Electronics Corp.

Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton found that conflicts of interest among proposed class members may require the addition of subclasses, and in light of those concerns, decided to refuse certification of the two proposed settlement classes and to deny preliminary approval of the Samsung and Winbond deals on Thursday in the U.S. District Court...
