HHS Backs 3 More States' Health Insurance Exchanges

Law360, New York (December 20, 2012, 4:26 PM EST) -- Delaware, Minnesota and Rhode Island won conditional approval Thursday for health insurance exchanges intended to inject fresh competition into markets for medical coverage, bringing to 11 the number of states that have won preliminary federal endorsements of their plans.

The backing from U.S. Health and Human Services is an essential first step before states can embark on what’s predicted to be a challenging race to get online insurance marketplaces and support staff in place by the time enrollment begins on Oct. 1.
